About Us

Woolpit Steam traces its roots back to the “Cotton Exhibition” which was held in the village of Cotton, Suffolk between 1975 and 1982, at which, many of the original Woolpit Steam committee had participated either as organisers, helpers, exhibitors or visitors. The first Woolpit Steam was held at Grange Farm, Woolpit in 1987, and in many ways captured the spirit of the small village rally of days gone by. By 1996, the show had outgrown its original site, and moved to Warren Farm, Wetherden. |
We
endeavour to stage a small friendly show but with a variety of exhibits
that would be unusual even in larger events. By keeping the show to a
manageable size, and through the generosity of the landowner and local
businesses as well as the hard work of a dedicated team of volunteers,
we manage to keep our costs low. We are thus able to make sizeable donations
to local charities and organisations, which themselves make an important
contribution to the local community. |
